The frets have been levelled, body has been color sanded/buffed out, and I'm getting ready to re-assemble it. It's kind of on hold until I hear from David.
David, if you're reading this, perhaps you didn't get my e-mail? Drop me a line.
I'll take some pics tomorrow and try to get 'em posted before days' end. Ain't digital wunnerful?

You heard the man's request, ladies and gentlemen...
Clough's Classics (in case you don't know) is Roy Clough's musical history section of this fine website! He's been going strong since May 2005, with questions and commentary mostly on UK, Canadian, and USA rock and popular music of the 1950s and 1960s. Well-know and obscure tracks are dissected and discussed, but never dismissed. Roy will often post an mp3 of a lost gem, in order to share it with those of us with a less voluminous music library than his.
Knowing that most of you read postings based upon the e-mail links that are sent you each day, which in turn are based upon the stated preferences in your "Member Profile", it is possible that you may have missed Roy's section here. Just go to "Discussion--Topics" in the left hand sidebar. You will see both Roy's and my own sections listed in the Topics list.
That's my plug for Clough's Classics. Your turn to reciprocate, Roy!

Here are some shots of David's 335, following paint, clearcoat, color sanding, buffing, more buffing, and cleaning. Now the inside (around the soundhole) is cleaned up and the guitar is assembled. I have to still make and paint a new set of pickguards, and cut a new nut. There's wiring to re-connect, and lots of parts to be cleaned before they are fitted. Then new Rickenbacker strings, tune and set up and it's off to a new life.

Well, I finished it yesterday (except for a tiny bit more buffing and waxing). Checked the rewiring with a VOM, restrung it, adjusted bridge and truss rods, tuned it up and played it. Plays very slick and sounds great!
I have to give it a day or two to settle in, and take some really decent pictures, and then I'll pack it up and ship it back to David in Chicago.
But, meanwhile, here are some teasers I took late last night with flash, which is a no-no, but I forgot my tripod...

Nice work Paul, as always, but this guitar is particularly stunning. That particular finish along with the addition of gold guards resonates well with me for some reason.
