If I get a bass with a graphite neck, I'd want them to have block inlays.
The end result would look like this, but with frets and block inlays.. (and a pickguard, and control plate... yadda yadda yadda...)
That might be the active bass.. I'll think about one of those J retro things.

Same here.. but I've always wanted to play a couple Rush tunes live. It's just a dream of mine. I'd love to whip out "Turn The Page" in an original set list. There's nothing wrong with adding one or two covers to a set list.

yeah, this thread is pretty absurd, so I'll post my reasons for not liking active electronics:
I find that if you use effects then active electronics are a waste of time, if not a complete pain in the butt. I think a lot of people don't know how to use actives - you're not supposed to turn them all the way up! Because if you do, then you're going to overload a lot of the effects out there. Unlike passives, active electronics shouldn't change their sound quality when turned down below 10. However, if there's no center indent, then I've found it difficult to maintain consistency, especially during recording...
There can also be impedence issues - some effects don't work well with actives, like fuzz pedals. Also, what's the point of EQing at the bass when it's going to change the way an effect interacts with the sound? I would much rather have an outboard preamp later in the chain.
Even if you don't use many effects, it seems to make a lot more sense to me to use an outboard preamp, because then more than one bass can benefit from it.
I normally wouldn't state this stuff so strongly, some of it might even be wrong, but hey, this is the Jacob and Nate thread...

That didnt sound so great there Harry. This is the Jacob and Nate thread. But its true. It is. Say whatever you.
I guess I can agree. But I still love them. I dont use many effects.
The whole dont turnt he bass and treble to 10 thing I agree with. Me and this other kid had the same bass... And If you asked me mine sounded 10 times better because I know how to use the settings. He had the bass all the way up and all that stuff. Horrible.

My setting on my rick are
Treble volume (10)
Treble tone (10)
Bass volume (7)
Bass tone (10)
It sounds amazing.. but it is passive.
I want one of those POD things.. I want the sound from Sabbath's "Who Are You". My dad's sabbath band played that and the bass player had a pedal.. it sounded amazing! I also want the delay sound and the odd bass solo sound from "One Of These Days". I could do alot with something like that.

I agree with Harry about the outboard preamp. Why have a a bass with active EQ when you could have one thing that'll make all of your basses active. I'd rather have three or four basses made active with one preamp than just one with an onboard preamp.
