jaymi Millard Turned me on to Ernie ball extra slinkys and i must say there the best sounding longest lasting strings i've ever used . I was a boomer man for 15 years and never thought i'd even try another brand . But these slinkys are awesome . They are lower tension roundwounds unlike boomers and rotos. I use a lite guage 40 - 95 . Do yourself a favor and try them . I recommend them highly to all my rickenbrothers
im getting to old for this ****
40 - 95? for me personally that guage is like playing rubber bands!
i have a set of fender 9050L flats on my 02 burgundy 4003 and they have a a 95 E but the stiffness of those strings makes the gauges seem larger
I usually use D'addario prosteel 45- 105

They are dead now. I have a set of Elixirs on my Steinberger and they've been bright and new for about five months. They're more, but I may spring for a set for the Squire.
I also recall I liked the EB Slinkys, but it's been years since I've tried them.
Has anyone tried Webstrings?

No doubt...I used the ML's on my 4001 for a while (and on my fretless J)...50-65-85-100...and the high tension definitely changes the perception. I recently went to RW 45-55-75-105, and the 4001 necks like it better. But although the E string is larger it doesn't feel that way.
How do you like the 9050's Owen? Did you need to tweak the truss rods on your 4003? I have the set of ML's that was on the 4001, figure I'll try them on the 4004 L at some point, but the L's might be better in terms of tension...

Ed - I think the Fender flats are excellent strings altough i hate the guages. In the L set, i find the A and G are about right for me - they are 60 and 80. the G is stiff at 45 and the E at 95 is actually too light. They have high tension but overall the L set puts exactly the same ammount of tension on the neck as the roundwound set i usually use.
It would be great if they did a 40, 60, 80, 100 set - i think having a balanced set but with each string down 5 from my regular 45- 105 d'addario roundwounds would be perfect.
I put them on my 4003 for a particular sound on a recording. I used the mute at the same time and sounded great for that tone - ill post a link if your interested.
Robert - i dislike GHS bass stings too, tho i think their guitar strings and general quality seem very good.
