Please help this man with the 50's Rickenbacker

As for the year, definately 1958. I'm guessing it shows up on Ric's records in May- give or take a month. By the end of the year all of the features had stabilized to the typical maple four knob Capris that remained until they did the body style change a few years later.

According to R. Smith's book-
the Capri family of guitars started with V80 and the last Capri for 58 was 3V254. As for the body wood, I've had
mid 59's with Alder(or Spruce...) bodies.
2V524 was a 365 I had with an Alder body. 2T816 was
an early 60 360 w/Maple body.
I like the solid Maple neck and the fingerboard w/extra dots on this one.
I guess I shouldn't have traded mine(along with 2 60 335s)
for a 331......
Then I traded the 331 off as well
And so it goes.....

Are you sure 2V524 was alder? That sounds late for a full scale hollow. I had 2V364, and it was the typical weighty maple Capri. Somewhere around here I have a spreadsheet where I used to track these things, and there was a definite switch to maple by the end of the year... but then Ric did have a tendency to finish up old bodies and sell them at later dates- like the '59-60 alder short scales.

I think if Rickenbacker scours their records they will see no full scale Capris before 2T100.

From the serial numbers I've seen, the original run of 325s ran a serial number range (without the pickup designation) that was independent of the full scales. Once the 100 mark is reached, we start to see examples of short scale & full scales with the same serial number aside from the pickup designation... (example: there's a V102 and a 3V102, both from '58).

Yep-
2V524 is Alder. It also has the 3rd type of soundhole.
1st being long w/curly end, 2nd long but no curl, 3rd
a little shorter and the 4th was the final short sound hole.
In fact, 2V524s sound hole was longer than 3T350s....

Just more fun at the factory in the nifty Fifties......
