My Mom just bought a 330 blueburst
While I was on the computer looking for my next ric I came across a 330 in blueburst. My Mom just happen to be over at the time, when she saw the 330 blueburst she thought it was the most beautiful thing that she ever saw and had me order it for her, and she can't even play so today I ordered two rics, a 620 JG and my mom's 330 blue burst. This is a true story!

Hey, I wasn't trying to be mean! I too think it's cool your Mom loved it. I just find it strange in light of my own experience. Both my wife and my Mom get this glazed over look in their eyes when I start talking anything about guitars and especially when I show them pictures and the like. Their looks say "Here he goes again..."
Of course, they're still nice in other ways.

Well, I've told this before, but my wife and I were in a music store almost 2 years ago and happened to see a Gretsch White Falcon on display. We were only shopping for sheet music, I had no intention of getting another Gretsch, much less a Falcon.
On the way home, she said, "If you want to buy that white guitar, go ahead."
Who can explain it? All I know is, I've never made a faster u-turn.

I hope she'll let me play it once and a while, but if she says no then I'll have to lay the old guilt trip on her, that always works! But all kidding aside for an 80 year old lady she's still pretty cool. I bought both rics from The Music Zoo, but I have to make a correction, the price for both Rics delivered was $1960.00, the 330 blueburst was $1060.00, and the 620 JG was $900.00, Mark at the Music zoo is a pretty good guy, not only did he give us a good price on the guitars, but he through in the shipping! Now all me and "mommy" have to do is wait for them to come in, I think she's more excited than I am, God I hope she does'nt ask me to teach her how to play.

Most of the time someone says it like that on a forum I go to they're being a complete ***... sorry.
My mom gets like that sometimes (Hey ma! Look at Lemmy's bass!) but when I talk about getting a new one or modding mine to make it better (In my eyes) she gets excited. My grandma gets excited about my ideas too. Parts changes, how I react and the sound of new strings.. stuff like that.
My family is a very musical one. My dad played guitar, both my uncles play guitar (my uncle Brad is amazing), my sister is a great singer (she's only 8!), my cousin sing, plays keyboard and a little bit of guitar, and I play bass, sing and am a novice on keys. usually we are very interested in the gear and toys we get. the first time my uncle Brad played my 4001 he liked it and was happy I got a good bass.. .and he said anything he played sounded like it was played by Rush.. lol.

This is wonderful stuff, Paul. Your mum sounds like a real cool lady!
I bought my first Rick late January - mum and I had discussed my purchase of a "really top notch guitar" many times during December and she was rapt that I was finally going to do it. In fact she was very happy that I had taken up the guitar again after 30 years. Sadly she passed away on January 1 and never got to see my pride and joy in the flesh. However, I'm sure she's in a better place now and smiles and winks at me when I play it.
Her legacy (to a large part) has enabled me to pursue my love of these wonderful instruments and for that (and a million other things) I'll forever be grateful.
I hope you have joyous times together with your Rickenbackers and both look back on that memorable day when you ordered them with much fondness.
Not to put dads down, but mum's are special!
