Thankful for our Rics..
While I am first thankful for my health, and the health of my family, I am also thankful for my Rickenbackers.
Owning a Rickenbacker was a dream come true when I was 18. Now I was Geddy, now I was Chris...
Then rock music turned in a different direction, and I was swayed by some very bad,bad people. The convinced me to sell my Ric and go Fender. I wandered around Ricless for over 20 years then, the hunger came back. Now I not only own a few, but I've been able to create with them. Not just music, but style them my way...with the help of all you fine folks, for whom I am thankful for as well.
It's been great meeting some of you this year an I look forward to meeting more of you next year when I'm confident we will be able to put together some great 75th anniversary confluences.
Happy Thanksgiving all!

A Rick was my first decent bass. I got it in '86 & still have it & would never sell it. I got a '71 Fender Tele bass as a back up 'cause I used to break strings all the time, but it never had a clear enough tone. It's long gone along with the P bass I traded it for & now I have 2 more Ricks.
I have an understanding wife & the basses I've always wanted. PLenty to be thankful for (though we had our Thanksgiving weeks earlier).
Any day with a Rick is a good day

Plus five minus five!
I had a 4001MG back in 1977,it was my first good bass. I sold it a few years later and started playing other basses. A few years back, I realized that I wanted to go back to the sound and tone that made me want to play in the first place. Now I have two Ricks, a 4001V63MG and a 4003MB, and a 4001C64FG on the way. So I've pretty much come full circle musically.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

My first decent bass (actually my 4th bass) was/is the 75 4001 I have now- still have it and it will stay in my family- some day my kids will have it. But, in my stable Fenders still have a place.
I find that with the set up I have with my '54 Precision reissue (SD 1/4lb pickup, Badass II bridge and Rotosound 66's rounds) I can get as close as I want to get to the Geddy sound.
