Bob, my 4002 is from 1977.

This one had to be resurrected, but it's now a great player.

I don't know if the case interior is original. Has anyone had seen another Rickenbacker case interior in this color?

Though I'd like to someday find an original and unmolested 4002 in Walnut, this will do for now.

Very nice Greg. A 4002 would be the ultimate 4 stringer for me. I only got to play one once. It was Gary Clauson's at the So Cal Rick confluence. That made me want one even more.

Does anyone have a soundbyte of one of these ??

Do they sound like a 4001/3/4 ???

The pickup config makes me want to think that they might sound a little like a Jazz bass.

I had the WORST dream involving a 4002 last night. I don't even want to say what happened! Ok.. here goes.. some retard cut off the neck at the heel and made it a bolt on. *shudders* I don't know why that came up.. maybe it was because I was thinking about an allparts Geddy J neck and wondering if they had the fender logo on them... bolt on neck on my mind.. and the dream had a 4002! That's scary!

I would love to have a 4002. I wish they were still in production like so many of us. But I'm also looking forward to getting my new C64. Maybe sometime JH will do a limited production run. Not likely mind you, but maybe.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

Hey Jerry, welcome to the forum.
When are you going to sell that 4002, or are you just going to tease us?
Buy it before someone else does.

"This is the most up to date list of current 4002 owners that I know of. Use this for your record keeping Chris.

Chris Pappas Jan. 82 Walnut
Ted Staberow ? Walnut
Greg Skinner ? MG
Dave McDonald 78 MG
Bob Belloff 1982
Woody Memphis, TN. 1982 Tourtise P/G
Bill Stoner June 84 walnut fretless
Blair Seaboyer 82 walnut fretless
Jerry Pound 78 MG"

Do they have to be forumites? Because you could put Geddy on that list. Image
