The center on mine, actually looks kinda like Ken's it hard to tell certain things with photos as the lighting has alot to do with shades and so forth..

The real difference between mine and Kens is my hand doesn't appear that it can turn the neck into sawdust in an instant.

Maybe you all took each other's home at the end of the day, ever think of that? Image What a mindbender that would be!

I hope it's not a refin.....but it looks so much darker in the center than the others I've seen from that era....the overspray in the soundhole isn't bad, but I think it's a matter of the guy that sold it to him not telling him about it and a couple of other small issues.....

None the less, and excellent bass and in great shape!

Marc, the sides of the bass is a dead giveaway if its a refin. Look at the side paint spray pattern.between the upper and lower bout and on the horn.

Not sure Ken, The different spray patterns could just mean they were sprayed by different people. Unfortunately, I don't have the bass in hand. It's hard to tell exact patterns from the photos.

I would say the pattern on the back of mine looks exactly like yours.

Someone mentioned to me that using a blacklight, you can tell if the instrument has been repainted.
