Didn't know RIC made 4003s with a maple fretboard. Maybe someone replaced the fretboard...

Cool - you guys found my newest purchase!

I'm Darrell, first post here, just got my password and headed over to ask about this one. I'm also "nothingsleft" on E-bay and "colonel mustard" at the Dude pit and "Darrell G." at the FDP.

I honestly don't know a bunch about Rics... that one just looked so cool and $599 with a case so I bought it. Do you really think the fingerboard may have been replaced??? I didn't consider that. I thought a natural or stripped to natural version of a black/white/red star.

Any input is GREATLY appreciated. I didn't ask questions first, just checked feedback and pulled the trigger. Hope it's not a replacement board!

Thanks Ric folks,
Darrell

Darrell, I think you ought to ask the seller if there's any evidence of a replaced board, to put your mind at ease, or just wait until you get it. It might just be a stock bass, I've seen some factory-original oddities. For example, I recently saw an '87 320 with checkerboard binding, I don't think the 320 was ever officially offered with binding. As I said over at the Dudpit, I think it's just a 4003S.

Hmmm. No visible dot indicators either.
