I thought it looked like yours, Marc....with the darker center...maybe it's the lighting.
Ken reminds me of that sucky, vacuum cleaner thingy in Yellow Submarine.....except he's sucking up all the RICS!! LOL!!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Let go of my 4002......!!!
....but Ken's arms are MUCH bigger...

Well guys, as the owner of three 4005s from the 60s, I can definitely say that I love the style, the thin neck, the subtle ranges in tone/timbre available, the weight/balance, and the craftsmanship that went into creating them. IMHO, they are the finest basses Rickenbacker ever made.
I love the 4001 as well, and it's true that a 4005 is not a 4001, and vice versa, so the answer is to have at least one of each!
I have several 4001s and 4003s, fretted and fretless....and I'll bet a fretless 4005 would be totally amazing!

I knew this guy back in the 70's. He had a 4001, and day he showed me his new Rick. He had called RIC and asked if they had any floor models they wanted to sell, and he got a real nice 4005. I think it was FG, but it might have been BG.
I seem to remember he didn't pay all that much for it (but then it was the 70's) and it was an older bass... mint too!
