The other day, first thing in the morning, I had some tea to wake me up. Three sugars and milk... no honey or anything. My voice was almost in peak condition after that.. it surprised me. I took advantage of it by singing the songs I rarely do, because they're higher up, and I hate having to go falsetto on them. What a good day that was.

Something more... the teacher may insist on being careful with the voice and not to try to sing out loud or try difficult songs until the training is over.
Oh yeah, and... you're a smart guy Nate, and i have no doubts you won't be doing this -

If it's any help.

I learned to make a smooth transition from natural voice to falsetto and back by practicing:

"...and when I ask you to be mi i i ine, you're gonna say..."

John is so smooth on this. So I did it over and over until I was able to nail it. Now going natural-falsetto-natural is one of my favorite things.

Chico: You sing high
Woman: I have a falsetto voice
Chico: That's funny, my last student, she had a "false set uh teeth."
That's not your grandfather

Sheena! Letting a chimpanzee smoke is of course reprehensible...however:

Old enough to get shot into orbit, old enough to smoke, that's what I say...

I'm with Sheena though, Nate...that chimp is ruining his vocal career...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

No, I've had enough second hand to last me a lifetime. My mom smokes, my dad smokes, my step dad smokes, my grandparents smoke, my aunt smokes and most of my friends smoke. I'm the clean one. Of course my friends were pot heads too, but I didn't do that either.

Good idea, Joe.. good thing I like that song!

I forgot to mention.. that smoking monkey reminded me of Mr. McCartney's "Looking For Changes".

"I Saw A Monkey That Was Learning To Choke
A Guy Beside Him Gave Him Cigarettes To Smoke
And Everytime That Monkey Started To Cough
The ******* Laughed His Head Off
Do You Know What I Mean"

Good song...
