Meeting Fellow Formites.

Just got back from visiting family in Portland, OR., and goofing off in Vegas. I also had the pleasure of meeting Ron Cascisa in Portland who most graciously welcomed me into his home, and showed me some very fine instruments. Ron is a very lucky guy to have a mint FG 68 4001, and some very nice Ric guitars. He also had a few Hofner's. One is a 63, and the other a RI 63. I was also impressed with his two mint Ampeg B15's, and his 1957 P Bass, and 64 J bass. I only wished I could have stayed longer. Ron's lovely wife is a professional pastry chef, and I really enjoyed the great homemade cookies.

In Vegas, it was an honor to meet Mr. Jim (Fireglo) Glen, and his lovely wife Janet who showed us a great time in Vegas, and to top that off we saw Sir Paul on Saturday night.
Jim, and I took in a stop at Ed Roman's while the wifes where shopping. Ed, had not one but two Lemmy's on display. No, we didn't even bother to ask how much he wanted. Both Lemmy's where awesome looking with very distinct patterns. Not much else to say about Ed Romans.

Every fellow form member that I have met so far have been first class acts. This just goes to show what a great forum we have here, and a great brotherhood, and I am thankful to be a part off.

Bob, what a nice story. I concur that the Rickenbacker enthusiast has a friendly and hospitible edge. It is more evident when participating on other-brand forums...and I do not mean this unkindly to those folks in any way. I too find it a privelage to be part of this bunch especially with the presence of the Hall family and the support they give us...it is unique...and they lead us in this positive bond.
But Bob, my house is a friggin' mess and yer not comin' over eh.

Yes, that's an interesting fact about this forum - wonder if Peter has "built in" some magnet that attracts nice people here... my friends from my home country do not believe such a place exists on the Web...

Bob, It was a great pleasure to meet you and your brother-in-law on this trip to Portland. Your visit to our beautiful city was perfect timing because the weather had been dry and sunny for about 10 days (They're expecting a dusting of snow tomorrow!). I enjoyed having you over, because it's not often you get to meet enthusiasts that can truly recognize and appreciate the finer instruments this world has to offer! You are welcome back anytime. Here's hoping your Thanksgiving was as good as mine! Sounds like your trip was a great one.

I met John Williams (jwilli) a while back. Not only is he a great guy, but his restaurant serves some good food. BTW, I was there the an hour or so after he took delivery of a couple Rics.

I've met Rath (every freaking day!) and Ken Joseph, who is a very nice guy, as well as Paul Boyer at the Inaugural Ric Confluence, and I have not met Chris Poteat yet, but I owe him a beer!

Everyone else I have met via email or such has been great, too!

Seems all that, and more, is true down here in OZ as well! For those of you who will meet Howard(Aitch) during his forthcoming U.S. tour,and those who've already met Darren, you'll know what i mean.
As with peoples tastes in all walks of life, if you have an interest, or indeed, a love of a certain thing, and it is shared by many....friendships will most certainly evolve!
Two of the nicest guys i have met in a long while, i've met through my love of Rickenbackers, and i hope to meet many more!
There is definitely a great "vibe" in this forum!

Congrats on the milestone, too..... quantity is not important, quality is - not like my plethora!!

I'm catching up with another forumite on Saturday morning - Ron Viney - from whom I purchased the 350 that you want to make love to.

Hopefully he'll be able to join us at our next gathering.

I had the great pleasure of meeting up with Jason Bickel and Dean Mentjes (and associated spouses) last night in Farmersville, Illinois, the occasion being to provide crowd noise for a recording of Jason's band. I enjoyed it very much, although we weren't able to stay as long as I would have liked. Good music and playing! And cheap beer!
