Don't know about "celebrity", Greg. I'm really chuffed by the reaction of so many and the good vibes. It's going to be difficult to get to all the places suggested, but if there is going to be a RIC 75th anniversary bash or forum confluence that coincides with it, hopefully I'll get to meet many of the members. That, after all, is one of the main aims of the exercise.

UPDATE..........

The destination list at this stage is:

San Francisco, SoCal, Vernon (Canada), Toronto (gotta see that CNN tower! .... and possibly a good re-entry point into the US), Buffalo, New York, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Grand Marais, Springfield IL, St. Loius, Chicago.

The actual itinerary hasn't been set yet, but in order it looks like the first part will be SF, SoCal, Vernon, Toronto, Buffalo. After that, ??????

Any further suggestions gratefully accepted. It's now an 8 week trip, commencing around mid-August.

Howard;when you get to Toronto, if you are around for a day or three, if we've got some jams going on,I could scoop you in T.O., hijack you, lend you a 62 jazzmaster I have lying around, and you could come play some blues etc. with us old farts in cottage country, an hour and a half north of T.o.,then send you off on you regularily scheduled program. It is the CN tower, and it is kind of strange when you are up there looking thru the clear floor you stand on and look way down, it is an expensive tourist trap, on the shuffle to Buffalo, you have to pass the Niagara wine growing region, near St. Catherines on your map, excellent wines, tours, tastes, and possibly check Niagara Falls out, took a lady from Munich there last summer, did the tunnels under the falls, quite amazing standing in the rock tunnel as all this water is flowing over you. have fun wherever you end up

Yeah... too many Ns... While I was posting I had a comedy program on the TV - 'CNNN news'. Guess I had 'N' overload (temporary, of course)!

Where in the south would you suggest, Sean?

Er... perhaps you give me too much credit as a bass player, Richard. I'm predominately a guitarist (of sorts). Then again, there are 9 months between now and then.....

Love the 'Icabod' handle, BTW. Icabod Crane, perhaps?

Howard, if you can get to Cincinnati, Ohio, be sure to contact me. Even if you only hit Cleveland we could meet up there. My wife and I are charter members of the R&R Hall of Fame if you want to check that out for free.

Howard; I'm the bass player, I was offering up 62 fender jazzmaster 6 string, although, the gtr player I play with had a ric 330 new in 67, it's gone, but he thinks the other guy who bought one at the same time ,still has his,I might have my 4001C64 by then tho, Icabod has been a handle 3 different people have given me over the years, I'm 6' and a scrawny 132 lbs, so they seem to think that icabod suits, another person gave me "ace the bass" in 68 ish, I guess I'm as old as you, anyhow I knew you were a gtr player from your pics, I've been lurking here for about a month after I found the site and find it very informative as well as extremely entertaining, and I can't believe some of the instuments I see..wonderful, I've had 5 rics before, 4 basses and one gtr, and it is time to have another, maybe april when I get to fondle it, in the meantime I have other choices. It would even be cool to meet for a pint in T.O. if your time is constrained...regards

When are you coming through Howard? I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere but I don't have the time to troll back through-I'm only half way through War and Peace and I have to get back to it! If you're going to Toronto, having heard something of your swilling habits, you might want to try the Distillery District, lots of great microbrewery products to be had. There's lots to do in Toronto, depending on when you're coming through, and what your tastes are. I know you like beer and Rickenbackers but what else? Are you bringing any guitars? I could perhaps arrange a gig in a local pub I play at regularly-if there are some local forumites we could have a free-for-all jam. The owner, a Scotsman, is open to most suggestions and would probably love this kind of thing.

Also, I grew up in Niagara and if you like wine, there's some great stops along the way from To. to Buffalo. By the way, CN stands for Canadian National-one of the hingepin rail companies in Canada's history-as any high school student in Canada will tell you, the country only exists because of the railroads and because our first Prime Minister was an inveterate alcoholic! I grew up in a town about 10 minutes outside of Niagara Falls and, consequently, I don't have a lot of good things to say about N.F. but it probably is worth stopping through. A word of advice-spend your time on the Canadian side-I'm not a big patriot but the American side of N.F. is desperate indeed (IMHO)!

Bill; where's the jammin, I might like to talk the fat guy I play with into coming down, I grew up in T.O. and this Sun. dec 4th I've got a sound gig with Quartette at Metropolitan Church on Simpson ave., Wendel Ferguson is gtr player, Randall Coryell on drums, and Gene Falbo on bass, and Sylvia Tyson, Cindy Church, Gwen Swick, and Caitlin Hanford, quality stuff, drop by if u can, sound check about 4:30, this is my other hat I wear, audio guy...

Aitch, he's right. If you don't visit The South, well, the trip would be incomplete! Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina (the coast), Georgia, Florida, Tennessee (Nashville) and others.....

The most important aspect is....the people. You know, Southern hospitality.
