Guilty pleasures

Post by bassduke49 »

Anybody want to chime in on what they do in their spare time besides playing/collecting/restoring Rick basses? I'll go first. I build museum-quality model aircraft from plastic kits (OK, that's my day job, too), bird watching (there really is a Hairy Woodpecker and he's not a porn star!), Beatles stuff, and trivia.

Who's next?

In my spare time, I hold a day job.

My spare time is kinda split equally between my hobbies of music, theatre, painting, drawing and occasionally hunting for fossils....oh, and drinking beer.

I've restored and modded few classic Schwinn Stingrays and restored/modified my high school ride, a '66 Buick Skylark.

Hmm.. I sit on the computer most of the time.. playing online games, emails, forums.. stuff like that. I also have some sword fights with my younger siblings. Good times.

I also spend some time on the phone talking to my grandmother, friends in Texas, and other assorted family.

Oh and I ofter look up and droll about the basses I can't afford... (4004L, a MIA J bass and a Wal.)

Music related: Writing/performing my music, playing on albums for local artists, recording/producing local artists.

Other: Journalism student at Wagner College, NYC. I love to write, whether it be an article, lyrics, poems, press releases, anything!

I'm also a NYC history freak, more specifically, the transit systems, highways, and anything having to do with Robert Moses.

I'm a model railroader (N scale, mostly Western Maryland stuff). I've been fairly dormant since I got into my band. Otherwise, I shuttle my kids to music lessons and Tae Kwon Do.

I'm also an auto racing fan. I try to follow F1 when I can, but I mainly watch NASCAR. And I'm also a Baltimore Ravens fan.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Writing (music and poetry), talking on the computer, or umm... the history channel. If it wasnt for the fact that I have 2 art classes a day. I probly would draw and paint a little. But... I do it 3 hours a day 5 days a week. So I dont really do it on my own time any more.

The only reason that I mentioned drinking beer is that I wanted everyone else in this thread to feel comfortable enough to admit that they joined a band so they could play gigs in bars...and think of them as I do.....a band practice with a liquor licence....plus I wanted to be sure that EVERYONE knows I am Canadian.

I also keep aquariums... and I also do some drawing. I like to dabble in a bit of carpentry. I am also the VP of a University Swing Dance Society.
