It surely is that, Jeff, but the interesting thing is that Australia and the 48 states are quite close in terms of size. You guys have managed to pack a hell of a lot more into your country than us. Our population is only 20 million - what's yours - 300 plus?

It's a bit like the state of Victoria, where I live. Similar in size to England & Scotland combined but only about 4.5 million bodies.

Great, Dean. As you may have gathered, I have one of those...... and I can nearly play it!!

Looks like it's gonna be a Toronto thing... Tdot meaning that, I assume?

"If you made it to Cleveland, then Brian Crisman and I could join up with you and Steve"

I could take you guys for a "ride-a-long" while I'm at work and show you the nicest parts of the city.....

Wow! I'll be in that for sure!!

Would I get one of those plastic 'Police Officer For A Day' badges and get to turn the siren on and off and answer the radio with "10-4 good buddy" and get to frisk the "street ladies' and eat McDonalds in the squad car and say "get out of the car, meathead!" and ask DUIs to walk a straight line and all that other cool stuff I see on TV? And... and....

Joking aside, Brian, that would brilliant!!

Checking the maps again/still.......

....it's more of playing "avoid the roaches" in ghetto houses, checking in the folds of bellyfat of a 350lb. toothless unwashed hooker for her crack pipe, settling the domestic issues of people with no common sense, yelling "get on the $%@^&*@ ground $%@$%-head !!!!" plenty, you could certainly play with the siren, we don't use codes like "10-4" but you can grunt at our dispatcher and mumble something that sounds like an "OK". I don't do much as far as traffic enforcement since my main priority is answering radio assignments so probably won't get any DUI's but we could probably round up a crackhead or someone high on PCP for you to administer a sobriety test to if that is what you want. Plus as a bonus you can borrow a buddy's bullet resistant vest and sign a waiver promising not to hold the city liable for anything that happens to you.....wooo-hooo! BTW...we have a nice Italian place we get food from.....the fast food helped destroy my figure. Image

Actually my wife went on a ride-a-long and had a blast....

(My recent assignment has been sissy desk work....I was feeling a little burned-out and a cushy temporary office position opened up that has been a nice change of pace. I'll probably be back on the road by the time your tour hits the States though......)

Nice Brian... great image of America... he's cancelling his reservations as we speak!!!

All joking aside... I could see how you could get a little burned-out. The job you police officers perform is amazing... and you're a stronger man than most of us for doing it.

Wow, a ride along would be cool! The only times I've done that, I had to ride in the backseat. With my hands fastened behind my back. Not exactly fun, you know? I've since mended my ways. ;-)

But really, my wife's family lives in Lakewood and we go up there numerous times per year. It'd be great to meet up with any other forumites in the Cleveland area sometime.

In fact, I always make the trip to participate in the FDP (Fender Discussion Page) jams up there at Pete's Tavern on Mayfield Rd. Great bunch of people, and more are always welcomed. And Ricks are *really* coveted there too. Last time we had 3 going at once on a few songs - a 620/6 MG, a 330/12 FG, and my 360/12v64 FG. It's always a blast, and anyone is welcome to come. I'll post the date of the next one whenever it happens.

Bob....thanks for the kind words but, honestly, I just took a different path in life.....nothing too special about it. I didn't have the patience or ambition to pursue college and the opportunity arose to take the police test which offers decent pay (plus the ability to work side jobs for extra cash for "toy money"), relatively early retirement and a pretty good pension. Most of the time things are pretty mundane and/or annoying but sometimes things get very cool and/or crazy......lots of ups and downs. I really didn't get burned out over the actual job....more because of all of the political games and inept management. I just needed a break.

Steve......I live just a few blocks from the Lakewood border so if you are coming to the area let me or Jeff know and we'll meet up somewhere....

Will do, Brian! We were just up there last week for Thanksgiving, so the next time will probably be in the spring, unless there's a concert there that we can't miss. ;-)

I live right around the corner from Pete's Tavern, I could walk there. I went to one of those FDP jams a couple years ago with my '73 4001.

Jeff - I was at that jam, but we didn't really meet that day. Also have at least one picture of when you were playing. Next time you'll have to come back and we'll do an ALL Ric set. ;-)

Small world, huh?
