Hmmmm..... the only circuit I'm a whizz with is my son's old slot car set!!

The mods sound very interesting indeed.

That top guard looks like it was "custom fitted" around the Roland sensor with a Swiss Army knife!

I'm glad this beauty went to you, Brian. It was a STEAL.

Bucky Beaver chewed that top guard out Paul.

Hopefully I can locate an original replacement. Then she will look almost stock but as noted there is some extra horsepower under the hood.

I am considering buying a second set and adding pots knobs and selector switch so I have a stock set up for this guitar readily available.

Oh and remember I said I would reserve my opinion on whether or not it was a steal. It was definitely a steal.

I have no idea what that guy was thinking when he decided to put it on e-bay without any reserve. Not that I am complaining.

Note the copper foil in both the cavity and on the guard. In one of the combinations available from all of the switches in the circuit it sounds like the pickups are out of phase. When I get time, I am going to take some high quality close up pictures and try to create an accurate circuit diagram. It's a very interesting setup.

Thanks Melissa,

I did not know what to expect. The original auction listed the fact that these mods had been performed and when I saw what he did to the guard to accommodate the Roland GK-2A pickup I was very skeptical.

This was one of those auctions where you hold your breath just as you are placing your bid.

Brian it sounds really interesting, any chances of getting some sound clips up on the Internet?

www.rapidshare.de works well to host a file...

I've gotta say, Jetglo + double white binding = jaw droppingly good looks!

Hi Patrick,

Yeh sound clips are a great idea. I'll put something together this week and post them here.

I heartily agree with you on Jet Glo and white combo. I should because all of my Ric guitars are that colour for some strange reason. My 4001 bass is white with black. Too funny.

A new V64 white upper guard is winging its way to me today courtesy of Jim at Rhoads Music in Elizabethtown, PA.

He had one in stock and packaged it up and is rushing it out for me. What a great guy to deal with.

Well done, Brian. Seems we both have reasons to be happy. Dealing with good people puts the icing on the cake IMO!

Too true Aitch,

The best part about life is the people you meet along the way.

I have hunted all over our little town and finally located some Scratch X and Zymol. Lordco, which is an automotive products distributor in Canada, has both in stock. So now I can give my beauties "the treatment".
