Your RIC wishes for 2006 - new models

Post by sloop_john_b »

Paul W. mentioned in another thread that he saw what will be coming from RIC in 2006 - two new models and a COTY. Maybe it's true, maybe it's only half true, but if this were the case, what would you like to see?

New models: 4001v68 and 360v66 (Don't think I need to go over what the specs would be!)

COTY: Burgundy (Probably won't happen, but it's my favorite Rick finish ever)

Are you accusing me of dealing in half-truths, John?

One new model youse guize have already seen a few times on this very Forum in the last couple of weeks. The other 75th special...well, NAMM is coming up in about 5 weeks.

I love burgundy, too. I'm about to do a refin on a bass in this lovely color ad I'm actually looking forward to it quite a bit.

Paul: As everybody knows, the Halls like to use glib language to describe confidential information at RIC. I just thought when you gave away that info, there must have been something up, it seemed too easy. Guess I was wrong!

Spot-on. John likes to have fun with the Rick fans, and they usually give as good as they get anyway.

No offense taken. Just joshin', JB.

my wishes for rickenbacker in 2006 ...

-well my first wish already came true ... walnut headwings ... very cool ...

what else do I want?

-Black binding, black plastic, black metal parts,
-Silver and White finishes ...
-A color similar to the Fender midnight wine ...
-a 5 string bass
-an 8 string bass
-checkered binding on a bass

and I'd like a few of those unfinished 4002 basses for my workshop ...

Steve, he toured the factory pretty recently, and I believe he had dinner with the Halls as well - though according to one of the parties, guitars were not talked about over their meal!

A Lightshow! Oh, new models. Hum... how about a 621LS... that WOULD be a new model! Lightshows for every house.

John: You are mostly correct. It was a visit to Rickenbacker, and John Hall graciously spent time discussing guitars and specifically Rickenbackers with me, both over lunch and at dinner. Of course, other topics were discussed as well.
