Should I send in the warranty card

should I send in the warranty card on my new 4003? i never sent in the ones for my fender and its been fine.

I filled mine out and sent it in the day after I got my '92 4003. Some folks prefer to keep it, possibly with the idea that it will help in resale value at some point in the future.

The thing is, I never got my Ric bass with any intention, conscious or otherwise, of reselling it. And there's been no reason to change my mind after almost 10 years. (My bass has a Nov., '92 production date, but wasn't delivered until mid-January, 1993.)

Jim, if you plan to hold on to it indefinitely, then my recommendation would be to mail it in.

Jim, in my opinion it would be a good idea to send it in. Ric has developed a lawyer's wet dream of a warranty which begins on the date of manufacture rather than the date of purchase, can be voided by a list of different activities (including changing the string gauge),etc. If your Ric came in a Ric shipping carton there's even a notice on the outside admonishing the new owner to allow the carton to acclimate to room temperature for 36 hours before opening (fat chance).

The point of my rant is that with this kind of protection in place for Rickenbacker you'd be better off making sure that all of your ducks are in a row.

Jim, I think it's best for you to send the card to RIC. The chance of you having a problem with your Rick bass is extremely small, but it's your peace of mind in the event you did have a problem. I'd hate to see you need to have it repaired by someone that really doesn't know what they are doing.
