Geez, I don't know what to make of that auction. Sad to use a description like that to sell a bass.

There's another auction for I think a 360 with a dead dad
being the reason for sale. Thing is that the description is
very odd.....
'68 4001MG, '70 4001 21Fret, '71 4001S MG, '71 4001FG, '72 4001AZ, '73 4001FG, '73 4001resto, '59 365FG, '96 381/12v69FG, '71 4001 21Fret FG

Not the real deal, Single truss rod, fretboard is too dark, bolt-on neck, he put a serial number in the description, but that was obviously a lie...not to mention it says "WESTWOOD" right on the headstock!!

His name was Westwood, but the guitar is Waste Wood.

He posted over on dudepit. Turns out that he hadn't paid for the auction yet, so he narrowly avoided a huge disappointment.

I thought I saw someone ask over at the 'pit about bidding. No link, however, but from the description I had to say it sounded fake.

Well, you see, it's a, um, a . . . uh . . . a Rickenbacker 4001 Westwood special edition! Yeah! You've never heard of it because they only ever made a few and they never advertised them and they're super-rare . . . and come on, my dad died, so you'd better buy it or you'll be an insensitive *******!\

Ugh . . . I hate that SO MUCH.

'Westwood'... I remember seeing that brand name on a Jazz Bass copy back in 1982 at a local store. So, Westwood is indeed a brand, not someone's name.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Take a look at this one on Ebay France. It definitely is a Cimar. And too bad the seller has way too little command over the English language...
