John Lennon Remembered

Post by rickfan60 »

25 years ago tonight we lost a great musician and a great mind. It is one of the few dates I can actually remember. We miss you John.

Sometimes, if I'm in the right mood, I'll put something of his in the player and it'll tug at the heartstrings. Dan Rather summed it up well back when that happened when he said something like There have been better lyricists - There have been better musicians, but there has been no one who could put words and music together the way John Lennon could.
Here in Columbus, the news today is about the Alrosa Villa being sued for the shootings one year ago today that claimed the lives of 5 including Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott.
It's just all so sad.
Is everybody ready?

Thanks Ken. I appreciate that. For some reason I don't go outside of the bass forum very often. I just stopped by the Beatle forum to pay my respects.

I heard "Cemetary Gates" this morning (Pantera, for the non-metalheads among us) and I started getting choked up all over again.
And as far as John goes, it always reminds me of how I felt when I heard the news...oh boy...

That was a horrible day. My best friends girl friend called me as I was coming home from work at informed me. I thought it was some kind of joke. I thank all the forums, media and vh1 for keeping his memory alive.

I sure miss John. Image (and George too!)

I remember I was watching TV that night, on the only station that reported it live... I'll never forget that night.

`I miss John Entwistle as well Jeff-but for some reason I resent him- I mean, he had a heart condition and still he was found to have "junk" in him when he was found dead. Makes me aggravated. He had SO much talent and presence.

When I need to be picked up from a bad mood, I listed to the Shepperton Studio version of Won't get Fooled Again, from the Kids are Alright film (OX CAM!!!) my personal favorite version of the song- Entwistle and the Exploiter...MMMM

Back to the subject- too bad John Lennon is gone. I was about to turn six yrs old when he was killed- so I don't remember when it happened.
Always liked "Cry baby Cry", Glass Onion and All You need is Love....and Revolution 9.

RIP John

I think John Lennon was kind of the "heart" of the Beatles. Paul is much more musically talented, and George is more innovative, and Ringo is . . . um . . . anyway, but John was kind of the spirit of the Beatles if you will . . . the feeling came from him. It's just one of those things that should never have happened . . .
