I had one. The mapleglo on the left is a '74, had the red dots and a toaster. The one on the right is a '72.

Both long gone unfortunatly.

Also, since when did this happen?:

(mid 70's) - Set neck design replaces neck thru design

I'm quite sure set-neck did not REPLACE neck-through. In fact, were there ANY regular 4001 basses (meaning, not 4000 bassees with neck pickups) that were set-neck? I thought the ONLY basses that were set-neck were 4000 and 4001S (which are basically just 4000 basses with a neck pickup). That statement on the list can't be right.
