Like I've told you before.. a Wal is number 2 on my best sounds list, behind a Rickenbacker.

I do like Geddy's jazz sound though.. but it's too close to the Rick, so I don't list it.

Wal basses sound phenomenal.

Like Rics they make a sound which cannot be replicated nor emulated too successfully.

It's a kind of frumpy-fizzing sound, very powerful.

The high end on those things is amazing. that's why I want one.. the difference in sounds.. I'll prolly get a J and a P just to get everything I could possibly use.

Ah, Wal basses . . . an not too expensive for a custom instrument . . . if only they made set-neck or neck-through models . . . they're still gorgeous though.

5 string. Nice. Do you have a recording of it? Or anyone for that matter. Iv just been wondering how they sound. I hate 5 string actually. Only know of 1 song with a 5 string that I really dig. X.x

Wals are awesome. Iv only played one but the thing is just amazing. I love the electronic setup on them. Or the one I played at least

I don't have any recordings of any of my basses that are worth hearing. The 4003S/5 sounds as you would expect, just like a 4003 but with a few notes below the E. I really like having the B string. It took about 2 weeks to get comfortable with the spacing and the extra string. I would finger a note on one string but hit another - a lot. Now it is very natural for me.

I have a 5 string. Can play a 5 string. But im not as comfortable with it as my 4 strings. As well as I dont like the low B. It just annoys me most of the time. Then again I even hate drop D tuning. Haha.

Yes. It is a '72 "A" width Precision neck that I have had since about 1979. It came in a Jazz body back then. I was told that the original owner ordered it that way. I bought a fretless neck in the mid 80's and put the '72A in a closet. About a year and a half ago I lucked into a Joe Osborn body that did not have a neck. They fit together PERFECTLY. The whole project cost me about $300. I call it my Fakeland.
