Favorite lines from the 60s?
Jokes aside...
----
Hear a howling wind outside my door,
There’s restlessness within,
And like a rain cloud that one day may burst,
You know I’ll be leaving, and if one little tear you grieve,
It’s all right cause that’s what I’m really worth.
----
Yes i know the writer is an American, but i think most of you guys known a top 20 British version...

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
Simon: "A winter's day in a deep and dark December - i am alone, gazing from my window to the streets below etc" - is that what you mean? If it is, i join in of course, albeit my favorite lines from this one is "I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain" & "Hidin' in my room, safe within my room, i touch noone and noone touches me" (albeit to be true i disagree with both statements
.

I like your citation Simon but a line later in that tune has made me shudder more than once when I stop to think of the presidents you've had..."even the president of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked." Take your pick from when the words were written (ca. 1965?)...shudder (though Jimmy Carter was pretty buff)....ugh.....

One that resonates well with me: Written by Gail Collins and Felix Papalardi and recorded by Cream
Outside my window is a tree.
Outside my window is a tree.
There only for me.
And it stands in the gray of the city,
No time for pity for the tree or me.
There is a world of pain
In the falling rain
Around me.
Is there a reason for today?
Is there a reason for today?
Do you remember?
I can hear all the cries of the city,
No time for pity for a growing tree.
Outside my window is a tree.

And it stands in the gray of the city,
No time for pity for the tree or me.

In the falling rain

And I hope that you die,
and your death will come soon.
I'll follow your casket on a pale afternoon.
I'll watch while you're lowered down to your death bed.
And I'll stand over your grave until I'm sure that your dead.
Real uplifting!

"I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you!
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you!
When you dead in your grave,
No more women will you crave.
I'll be glad when you dead, you rascal, you!"
Eh? Favorite? Not mine!
Oh BTW... is it the 60s?..
How about this one?
"Mbube
Ingonyama ifile
Ingonyama ilele
Thula"
