2020 rick bass
just bought a 2020 FG model rick bass from 1993.
It has been in the shop since, nobody wanted it for 10 years so they put it on sale for 660 €.
It's kind of like a modern version of the 3001 bass (which I also own). The 2020 has 2 passive humbuckers. It is a very loud bass, it has more output than my music man stingray. It is also very easy to play.
Great bass, unpopular probably due to it's appearance, (which I like).
Just thought to bring your attention to a rarely discussed rick bass that is actually a very nice
instrument.......
Anybody any experience with this bass ??
Marcus.

In case a photo isn't available, go to the Rickenbacker Registration Page, click "Photos" from the Menu, click "Bass Photos," then click "Group 1," and you'll see a 3001 bass. That's the body style.
If you go to the official Rickenbacker site and look at the Glen Frey Sig Model, you'll see the RIC-monagrammed humbucker pickups, the single-level pickguard, and single volume/single tone control knob scheme that are also used on a 2020.
When I think about it... I suppose there isn't a whole lot of difference in the body styles of the 3001 and the Glen Frey Model... look at either one.

I've seen Marcus playing the 2020 and it looks great!
It's fireglo with a 4005-like scratchplate.
Differences with the 3001 are the small tuners, two humbuckers (adjustable from the back!) and also a slightly slimmer body.
It looks a lot slimmer than the 3000/3001.
It also sounds great!
Greetings,
Chris

Great catch Marcus & good luck with your new bass!
Correct me if I am wrong, didn't Rickenbacker make long & short scale versions of this model in the mid-70's- early 80's?
I think I can recall seeing a short scale, in autumn-glo, single PU with a rosewood (or a maple coloured dark brown)fretboard. The sound was powerful.

Isn't that 2020 Ric bass on ebay modified? I thought all of the 2020 basses came without pickguards and with 4 knobs ...
