Nice shot Patrick. Great in fact.

Paul said something on another thread about pictures being more interesting when a small segment is chosen. A great case in point here. I love the blurring of the strings and the great perspective on the company name. Really good shot Patrick.

Quite dramatic, Patrick!

They are more interesting in some cases to my own eye...not necessarily to everybody's. A bit brighter, truer to color lighting and this one would be a winnah!

A bit of Photoshop on this one, and it loses some of that brooding character...

I could've gone that way, but usually when you make it brighter the noise sticks out, as you can see ;)

I actually made two layers. On top one I used the Fragment filter where I turned the opacity down to make it lose some of that noise.
The original picture is actually pretty dark and plain.

Eitherway I thought it was a nice shot Image

Yep. Noise shows up more when you brighten it.

But that's no reason to keep it dark.

The best we can do is to shoot at a good resolution, and give it enough light. Digital cameras thrive on data. The more solid data, the less noise. Then we can Photoshop to our hearts' content and not have to worry too much about noise.

The composition of the shot is superb, regardless.

That's a whole 'nuther debate, begun by Mr. Scott, our resident Luddite.

If digital cameras had tubes, Jeff would be all over them like a hobo on a ham sandwich!

If I were truly a luddite, I wouldn't be able to be a part of this forum!

Computers? Huh? Does not compute!

Internet? Is that for some kind of fishing?

Digital? Don't you mean fingers?

Now where is that darn abacus?

You'll find the abacus, Jeff. You're just nearsighted from watching that B&W TV with the 6" screen and that huge oil-filled glass bubble hanging off the front.

That is a GREAT shot! In fact, if Rickenbacker comes out with a new catalog for 2006, I can't think of a more perfect picture for them to use for the cover.

Thanks Brian, they can use all they want! Image

Do you think if I shoot my pictures at 2592 x 1944 there will be less noise?
