Combo 900/1000

Post by fredyfredy »

Bridge
I have not seen this style bridge used by Rickenbacker.
Was I absent that day?
Having problems getting this to link, my apologies.

It works fine Fred.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I see it now. Yes it was used on model 1000s for sure in the late 50s, most 900s and 950s had better bridges on them...from 1962 and up they had the compensated unit, like on a 450 from the mid 60's...

I think my '56 combo 400 has one of these?

My '57 Combo 1000 had one of these. Graham, check your Combo 400 again, the ones that I've seen had adjustable bridges.

Thank you! I have a mid 60s 950 that has a different style bridge.
I knew I would get the answer here.

I have a late 50's Magnatone that was built by Rickenbacker and it has this bridge and a pre-toaster style pickup.

I have been looking for the string stop for a 900/1000 for a couple of years. I have one that is dated in the mid 70s.
This same person had a stop from the combo with this bridge with a serial # V? 196, that dates it about 82.
This bridge really looked wrong to me, like someone cobbled together a couple of old parts to replace an original.
I was wrong, I still don't understand the serial #.
I was told these were the original parts.
