Pink Floyd fans in the US

Post by ozover50 »

If you're a Floyd fan, do yourself a favour... go and see these guys and gals. The Aussie Pink Floyd show is brilliant! If you've seen the DVD you'll know what I mean........

"The ultimate endorsement comes from David Gilmour, Pink Floyd's guitarist, a fan himself, having seen The Australian Pink Floyd Show three times. He joined thousands of fans in London at the famous Royal Albert Hall for what was described as "a show that truly embraces the Floyd legacy".

The live show, including the stunning recreation of Pink Floyd's landmark tracks such as 'Another Brick in the Wall', 'Comfortably Numb', 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' and many, many more, will have audiences expressing their joy at experiencing again this magnificent music performed Live on such a scale.

Floyd fans who haven't yet witnessed the show are seriously missing out...

When I lived in Buffalo, NY, I found out they were coming three days before they arrived. Of course I was angry that I missed em. My friend saw 'em and said they were amazing. My dad downloaded some of their stuff and they sounded pretty good!

Hi Nate. Nice to hear from you.

I'm just hoping they've got an Aussie tour in the pipeline (hopefully not August/September next year!).

The problem with tours here is that there are really only 5 major cities worth doing big concerts at and it's a long way to come for what may end up being only that number of shows. Makes it pretty expensive, too!

I reckon if they did a number of the provincial cities they would all be sellouts.

There's only one Aussie left in the band (the bass player), so I don't know how driven they will be to come here.

It's a packed US/Canada tour. Only 10 days off in 45! Whew!!!

Hmmm...on my wife's birthday here. I wonder how receptive she would be to some tickets as a gift?

Hmmm, I might add as well...They're playing Salt Lake City and Omaha, but not Denver?? This is dreadful news for a variety of reasons...

Although I see they are playing Colorado Springs...guess I'll have to venture down into Dobson Territory if I want to "Focus On The Floyd"...

David Gilmour has announced an upcoming tour to promote a soon-to-be-released solo project. This was on Yahoo news today, concerning the rumors that Pink Floyd may tour again:

...Pink Floyd's reunion with estranged founder Roger Waters to play the Live 8 charity concert in London last July raised hopes that the band would hit the road for the first time since 1994. But (David) Gilmour said in a statement,

"..I'm rather hoping that with this tour announcement people will believe me when I say, honestly, this is the only band I plan to tour with..."

This was referring to himself and the musicians that will accompany him on his solo tour...not Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Rick Wright. Doesn't look to promising for a Flyod reunion, folks...

His Loss! Either he can play stadiums with the Floyd, or 500-1000-2000 seaters by himself. Hmmm....

Interesting! Big Dave did some stuff with Rick Wright last year or the year before - have they fallen out too?

It seems that DG and Rick Wright are friends, Rick apparently is a guest artist on Gilmour's new album. No mention on Nick Mason, though. I suppose they are all 'friendlier' than they were, but Gilmour just doesn't wanna go down that road...yet.

I saw the Aussie Floyd at their last stop in North America. I missed the show last year when they came and almost did this time too!

I was planning on sneaking in at the intermission, but it was just my luck because a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go for free and make money selling t-shirts.

So I got to get a free (excellent) show, a free t-shirt and $100!

That helped out for Christmas shopping... Having been an unemployed student didn't leave much money for gifts.

Anyways, back to topic, I would recommend these guys to anyone, they sound very authentic!

From what I've gleaned from interviews, the small venues and acoustic shows are what he's really into these days.

Perhaps playing stadiums for 25 years gets old? Image

I'll let you know if I ever get to do it, and the production, lear jets and truckloads of cash that come with it. Image I don't think it would suck that much...

I talked to my dad on Christmas and he asked when I was moving back to the states. I said next month maybe. He said good, because we're going to toronto in April to see Dave. Yay! If I see him I can say I've officially seen half of Pink Floyd. The other being Roger in 2000.

I heard on the radio today that Roger Waters has composed an opera (!) for release this year. Ought to be interesting!
