Rickenbacker 4001V63 Prices

Post by bugman »

I saw a mapleglo finish 4001V63 sell for $2410.00 the other day on ebay and am curious if a fireglo would fetch the same. Bidders that lost out were close in the running on that one. I may be needing to raise some cash for a purchase and if thats what I can expect than my 1999 4001V63 fireglo may be going up for sale soon.

The V has been all over the road pricewise for the last year. I've seem them spread between $1500 and $2500 for no apparent reason. With $1700 - $1800 being pretty normal. MG and FG would be roughly the same demand I would think.

I have a JG V which is supposed to be a rare color but no one seems to want them. Yet. I understand that only a few hundred were made in JG.

You're right Ted, nobody wants a JG V63, so how about $50.00 to take it off your hands?

P.S. I'm learning from Marc!

The one I have used to be Marc's. He had it up on Ebay and it never made reserve. I'd have to get at least $75 Jeff. Image

The heck with all you. I'll spring a cool two hundred bucks for it and don't none of you try to talk me out of it.

I picked up a FG one in super shape for a song, totally by accident. I'm considering selling my CS just to hold onto it. I feel the v63 has a better investment quality than the CS.

Ted, I believe that JH said the JG's were made in the tens, which I took to mean less than 100. I also think FG is much rarer than MG and that there are a few COY's scattered around.

Marc,I hate to say it that v63 will never even come close to the investment quality of that CS.

If it were a much older Fireglo I would say maybe, but to beat #30 CS forget it.

The 98-2001 v63 are a dime a dozen.

LOL you guyz!!

The only V63 off-shoot that I owned until recently was a '92 CS I ordered new....I enjoyed it well enough, but I must say I am really digging the V63 PMC I picked up the weekend of the Philly Show. It's just a great playing bass, and uncommon in the grand scope of things...

Ted- being a fellow v63jg owner/fan I paid special attention to the JH quote on production totals for them as well. I agree with Marc...less than 100.

Geoff, good luck with the auction. Your V63 really looks nice.
