This would be a real shame Charlie, but thanks for this update. I hope that Mike is able to socket to them.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

HE now has a rock and roll coalition of amp manufacturers and tube sellers calling up embassys and sending nasty letters to Russian officials. I am sure Mike Matthews will come through a winner on this one. He is one tough cookie, plus he has a small army of $850/hr New York attorneys in is corner.

I also heard he contacted the Governor of New York to get involved. This will be real interesting.

Yes, I got an email from new Sensor with a date by date breakdown of all the letters that were sent out and what not. Should be interesting.

Charlie, on the Tung-Sol 12ax7, I ordered a pair from New Sensor, and they don't spec out all that great on my recently calibrated B & K 747 tester. The scale they use is arbitrary, but a normal 12ax7 will test from around 80 to 110, depending on brand and type, and one of these new Tung-Sols tests at 30/30 and the other tests at 90/70. So the first one is obviously bad, and the second isn't matched too well. I've also heard several similar issues in the last week with some other people who have had a similar problem, including one other guy who had the same type of B & K 747 tube tester, and the Tung-Sols tested bad on his too. Is there something with this tester that could be causing the readings to be low, or is the QC on these not all that good yet and we're seeing duds? Thanks.

Unfortunately, with New Sensor the Name Goes on Before the quality goes in. I think there are some morale problems at the factory in light of the dire situation that New Sensor is having over there. I have found that most small signal tubes are all over the map when it comes to transconductance readings. New Sensor stuff, even if it is marked Tung Sol, is still New Sensor and their tubes generally test lower than NOS or good used US or Euro stuff.

Well I can see testing lower, but testing at 30 compared to the normal 90 or so for an EI, 100 for a JJ, or 85 for an EH isn't even close. I'm thinking the one that tested at 30 is bad, but I haven't had a chance to try it in circuit yet and measure the gain. New Snesor still hasn't emailed me back so I'll have to get on the horn to them about it.
