Vintage Hofners in Stores

Post by bugman »

Can anybody point me to any U.S websites that have a decent selection or at least some with some good vintage Hofner basses? Along the likes of the President or similar.

How about the President or Senator model? So far I've found a Senator at Voltage guitars but nothing else. Looking at US stores only due to probable shipping expenses/hassles. Those early Violin basses look great but are out of my price range. Thanks! Just sold my RIC 4001V63 on ebay so now its shopping time!

Greg ,
Please send pics and prices of any Hofners you are selling.. Thanks and I was sorry to hear about your fire. I am looking at Hofners ( just sold a RIC 4001V63) so I have some Hofner money again. I am interested in the President or Senator models but would be interested to see any you have for sale as I also am interested in the violin basses. Thanks!

Greg,
Have you seen the new Club basses with the violin varnish and the cavern bass pickup spacing? If so what is your take on them? They supposedly are going to be limited to 25 pieces (I believe for the US) and I wondered about their collectibility value in the future

I see on the UPS tracking site that the Hofner President bass I won on ebay Monday night is in Omaha(about 50 miles away). Its making its way from Louisiana to Lincoln,NE It has blade pickups, three control knobs(I assume one volume and two tone?) There is also a pickup selector switch on the upper bout. I havent found any pictures or info on this version. It supposedly has been in the case for 20 to 25 years. Hopefully when it arrives it will be as good as it looked. Has anyone seen this particular style before? There was only one other bidder and I got it for just $25.00 over the other guys high bid. I thought with over 700 some visits on the auction counter that maybe there would be more bidders at the last minute but luckily for me that wasnt the case.

Fyi...Had two w 3 knobs.Played 'em. Sold 'em both.
I really like the tone of those 'blade' pups. Be careful with that switch Geoff .All the best with it ! Nice bass! Congrats .

The Hofner President bass came today and I am letting it warm up before opening it up. It arrived on Presidents Day (how appropriate) and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Greg--What year do you suppose this bass is? Thanks for any info.
