I probably asking an old question here, but here goes. Why did they move the neck pick up closer to the fret board again?
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

To make it easier to remove the truss rods if neccesary.

Jeff's needed a rod removed and RIC had to cut (rather expertly) a small channel in the body at the end of each truss channel. They went back to letting the pickup route provide the rod access.

Um, that Blueburst at the top . . . words cannot express how infinitely gorgeous it is. If we were neo-Platonists, this bass would be the ideal, Platonic bass by which all basses are compared. Wow. Blueburst really is made for 4004 basses . . .

Only on the Rickenbacker forum would you find a post combining BBR and Plotinus...

I'd prefer it with chrome. I'm just not a fan of the gold hardware.

The color doeslook great though!

But since you don't play yours the plating should never wear off! Image
