Guitar Center[public service announcement]

Post by ken_swearingen »

I just spoke to GC main used gear Rep.

I made him aware of some of the crazy GC listings. He said he is aware of all the re listing and that there will be a change soon, and prices will be more competitive.

He was very appreciative of the call and gave me his personal email address and wants to know what we think of the changes.

Best of all hes a bass player too.Very Cool!!

Well, whaddya know!

There are real people who listen to reason at GC after all, hey Ken?

I think we all agree that it's their upper management that are whacked and slow to respond, but once you meet somebody in the trenches, it's possible to reason and even bond!

A satisfactory outcome, as Nero Wolfe would say.

Did I appear to be quibbling? If I did, I apologize.

If I didn't, there's no need to parse my positive reply of agreement and encouragement.

Oh no I'm just surprised that the guys in the management positions were so helpful over at corporate, they are aware of what goes on,they actually said it is the individual sales guys bumping up prices trying to double there commission. They also said the sales guys will keep it on ebay forever just in hopes of getting one bid, that first and only bid pays there full commission.Corporate is getting pretty mad cause the re-listings are costing them money and will stop!!

They might sell something for a change if they got real on the prices....

Seems like GC is playing a game of "We don't know what the heck is going on, why should our customers?"

Personally, I still deal on a case-by-case basis with salespeople I trust.

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
Sounds quite familiar. I used to work at a factory where the CEO didn't know that we were working overtime until one of the employee reps brought up a complaint about wanting to work more overtime hours.
After that there was no more overtime.
Plus five minus five!
