I think I'm becoming a C64 convert.

I love the neck profile of the C64. It's much slimmer than my 4003 and feels more comfortable with my small hands. I can play my 4003 fine, but there's a much better ergonomic fit with the C64. I think the lack of binding also makes the body more comfortable to my right arm.

I have my current C64 strung with TI jazz flats, but I'm tempted to sell my 4003 and get another C64 set up with rounds.

I know how you feel! I love my V63's neck, and the C series have felt as good or better! There is something about the lack of binding. I tried a new 4003 in NYC last June, and there is no way I could play that neck!
I haven't felt a comfortable bound neck Rick yet.

I discussed the issue with my wife and have the green light to get another C64 to replace my 4003. I'll probably get a Mapleglo one since my current C64 is Fireglo. Now I need to decide if I want to sell my 4003 as it is with the Hipshot bridge and Pickguardian bridge pickup surround or return it to stock and sell the other parts separately.

How do those TI flats work with the C64?

They work really well. They have a nice mellow sound and let a little of the "wood" sound come through. I also have TI Jazz Flats on my '62 RI J-Bass and the C64 sounds much more natural than the J-Bass. It's a very open, resonant sound. And of course, you can always go all-out "old school" and turn up the mutes.

I have Pyramid Flats on my v63, but I haven't done an A/B yet. I think the Pyramids may be a bit bassier but less open-sounding.

Thanks, but it is costing me my 4003. I had to promise the wife that much after singing the praises of my C64 while practicing last night. She's learned that going along just shuts me up sooner until I find the next new thing

And it's a good thing I got it when I did. I e-mailed Bass Emporium yesterday and the owner responded, even though the shop was closed. I sent the payment to him immediately afterwards to complete the deal.

I called the shop today to complete the details of the sale and found out that there were 4 or so other inquiries. There's no doubt it would have been sold by today at the latest.

Although my 4003 served me well, I can't pass up the improved ergonomics the C64 offers me. It will succeed the 4003 as my main passive stage bass.

One of those inquiries was me. I actually saw the bass there last week, and forgot about it.
I thought their actual price would be lower than $1699, so congratulations Ron. Nice score!
