Help me fellow 4002 owners

Not that I will regret my new purchase what so ever, but educate me on if this is 100% correct. I just don’t know.

What is this sticker???

Are the caps original??

Pick ups look right.

Wire looks stock..

Hmmm, Actually that's the first time I saw beneath the pickguard on the 4002. I would wonder about the sticker myself. Send Dale an email he should know.

Looks like a faker to me, Dave. But I'd be happy to take it in and salvage it for parts!

'Chandler Guitars'. No? My guess is, your 4002 went in for an overhaul somewhere along the line. Are the caps (4) original? I don't know.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Why is there a Chandler sticker in there?

I believe that original Rickenbacker pickguards have masking tape under the pots, backside of the guard. See link. This is from my '75 4001.

But, since the 4002 pickguard is so non-standrard, who knows? The "chicklet" caps look odd but then again the 4002 pickguard is a bit of an oddity. I doubt RIC would have out sourced the pickguard, so I wonder why it doesn't have the masking tape?

Then again maybe a previous owner than Bob hacked up the original and this was a replacement. Either way, it is gorgeous and it is stunning!!!

That is a remade guard. The pickups are HB1s and not the original 4002 pickups. Otherwise yes, it is a beautiful bass. I will post pics of the 4002 pickups later today.

Thank you all for your input..

Ted, can you explain the differences in the 4002 P.U. from the HB1?

If that bass has HB1 pickups, I'll bet that it's the 4002 that Dude over at the Dudepit used to own. He sold his a couple of years ago but was pretty clear in his description in that the pickups had been replaced with the ones that were in the 4004 line...
