4005 cap mod?
I'm just curious if any of you 4005 owners have done the cap mod on your basses? If so, is there as big of a difference on the sound from the bridge toaster as there is on the 4001 mod?
thanks...dm

"There is no .0047 cap in a 4005, so no mod neccesary."
Am I missing something here? The rick schematics for the 4005 show a c3/.0047 cap between the treble volume control and the 3 way selector switch and my 4005 has a small light blue/turquoise cap in this exact position...someone here also sent me some pics of their 4005 controls and they have the same little cap in this position....from the middle lug of the treble volume pot to the selector switch!
The bridge toaster pup sounds really thin and I was hoping to boost the output. dm

Dave, Thanks...that's the picture...my 66 has the same light blue cap and I'm pretty sure it's original...considering that it IS in the schematics diagram and that both Dave's and mine have the exact same cap it would seem more likely that someone had removed the cap from the 4005's that don't have them...dm
Alright, I'm gonna do the mod tomorrow and I'm sure it'll make a big difference...when I bought a used 74 4001 a few years ago I thought that it sounded bassier than ricks I remember...so, during this cap confusion, I looked inside the 4001 and the cap had already been removed. I'm looking forward to the added thump that this should provide. Thanks John and Happy New Year to all...dm
