Went to see Jeff play

Post by ken_j »

Last night I went to meet Jeff Rath and see his band play. They are a tight group playing a nice mix of rock. Jeff is the third forum member that I have meet. I was able to talk with him before he played and during their first break. He is a friendly personable guy. He has a playing style of his own and really gets one heck of a growl from his Rick basses. I had an enjoyable evening as did my friend who is a long time guitarist and bassist. It was a pleasure meeting you Jeff!

Thanks for your gracious comments Ken ... Someday we will have to go hang out a motor city music for a while ...

the sound I get is part Geddy, Part John Entwistle, part John Wetton, part Chris Squire and part Jeff Rath ... I pick kind of like Squire ... I do finger style kind of like Entwistle, I use distortion like Wetton and I use thumb slapping like nobody else I have ever seen ...

We are playing again tonight at Monterey Music Cafe in Allen Park MI ...

Hi Jeff and Ken, didn't see this until I posted on the New Years Gig thread. Just want to second Ken's opinion. Caught Jeff's New Years gig and really enjoyed the show. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello. Poor Jeff was surrounded by young, pretty, long legged blonds all night. Jeeze Jeff, where did you get so many hot women. Ya rent'em somewhere, can I have the number? Can I join your band?

Ummmmmmmm.....oh yea, Jeff was surrounded by Ricks too. I forgot this was a bass forum.
I'm just happy to be here.

Good to see you guys got out to see Jeff's band, he is a heck of a player, but I have known that for quite a while. Image And Jeff, good to hear your gigs went well, sorry I couldn't make it out, too many options on NYE, and I chose the "houseparty with bandmates" option...

Ya it was a fun night ... Scott and I got there early to tweak the PA and when I was done doing that I went up to the bar to order my first beer and a tall sexy brunette with drop dead good looks introduces herself to me and says "Do you come here often?" ... then later a slim sexy blonde has rubbing up against me when we were introduced ... so yep it was a fun night ...

The down side is the band is probably splitting ... it is like the Beatles ... we make good music but can't get along ...

I'll post some pics of the gig when I get some ...
