I understand were playing the same songs over and over would get bord. Ill be honest I cant remember alot of the songs I learned. I have to go back and listn to them for a few before I can get it down again. I mainly learn songs because they'll help me get something down or get better at something tho.
Anyways... Normally if Im just playing Im not playing anything anyone else wrote. Im just in my own little world jamming or playing a song i wrote. Its more fun that way.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I think I got the hang of it. I turned up my amp really loud tonight and played with a light tap, completely opposite to what I used to do. I used to smash the strings.. not I lightly tap them. I made it all the way through "The Trooper" without switching to three fingers. I'm pretty happy. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" went without me getting cramped or cheating too.
Plus I could get Steve's metallic flats sound (I have really really dead rounds on). Tapping straight down on the string over the bridge pickup helped too. I just had to have a floating thumb and a light touch.
This is going to get fun.
