Russian Gas

Post by admin »

I noticed on CNN last evening that gas prices have quadrupled in the Ukraine. This validates, at least in part, the claims made by factories that production may not continue.

For Charlie, how long will it be until we see a problem with regard to the availability of tubes. Should we be stocking up on our favourite tubes?

For Sheena, what can you tell us about this increase in gas prices? Are the prices this high in Russia as well?

It's a governments' conflict, Peter. Like, "when the emperors fight, people have headaches". It's politics, so please understand, i wouldn't like to discuss it online. If you're interested, i'll drop you a message offline, there's nothing really confidential about this information, but the story is not pleasant indeed.

Thanks Sheena. I did not want to discuss politics. I was interested only in whether Russia was faced with the same high prices. Reading between the lines, it would seem that you have answered that already in your post.

When the emperors fight, people get sucking chest wounds...

Oh yeah...and you can't get tubes for your amp anymore, either...

My last comment to this thread - just to clear up some things...
Hopefully nobody will be deprived of amp tubes since it was promised European countries will get all the gas they've paid for.
That's a painful situation...
Just try to understand...
But there MUST be a happy end of sorts!

Yeah, it's called 'alternative energy sources'...like solar and wind, for example...'cut out the middle-man', like they say.

It's a happy end some of us have been waiting a long time for, and may not live to see...meanwhile, outside my window, it's sunny and the wind's blowing.

Sorry if that sounds like politics...

I just got back from the NAMM show in Anaheim,CA. Lots of great Ricks on Display. I will have a very thorough NAMM show report on www.vacuumtube.com by the end of the week with a lot of very cool photos. Check it out by Friday.

I did talk to Ralph Trimarchi, Sales Manager and #2 man at Sovtek. He said the tube factory situation is under control and that we will not have to worry about a Russian Mobster group taking over the Expo-Pul tube factory. Apparently, Mike Matthews has hired some ex-Kgb agents to investigate this guy who has up to 12 personal body guards around him and his family all the time.

The dept of state is also involved as are numerous US Embassy and politicians. Mike has some good connections. Tube will continue to flow from Russia for the near future.

Thats very good news Charlie! I got an email a week or two ago from New Sensor with a pdf file with the "dirt" on this guy that his people have been able to dig up...it was very interesting reading! If others want to read it, I can send it to Peter and he could probably post it?

Russia has just made huge oil reserve finds in Siberia. Another interesting theory about oil deposits deserves a bit of interest and introspection.
It seems that many oil fields that should have been depeleted are not. In fact they are doubling in volume.
The question then of course is why? His theory is that oil is not dead dinasours or plants. Its actually made by the earth itself under the heat and stress at the planets core.
Its therefore not a none renewable resourse. But in fact renews itself peroidically and thats why the oil fields do not drain out.
This is not liked very much like the eco folks since they view oil and transportation of masses of people to be inheritly evil.
But if we drill in Alaska the oil supply is unlimited in that gaint reserve. He went on further to state that the actual area needed by the drilling would be a grand total of one acre out of the thousands there.
Since it would be shipped out via pipeline there would be no chance of spills. The moose and caraboo seem to like the pipe line and they like to stand near them to mate since the pipe line warms them, putting them in the amorous mood for such activites.
Of course the down side might be too many moose and too much tax revenue for Alaska since they already do not pay any state income tax in Alaska now due to oil revenue.
In fact Alaskan's are for drilling but are stopped and stymed by those in the lower forty eight against us having our sources of cheap available fuel.
