I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but Ben Hall did say a while ago that there would not be any new bass models in 2006.

I think the new model that has been hinted is the 325 with F hole in amber fireglo. This was shown at a recent trade show in Japan. John Lennon had one of the export models long ago. I could be wrong (see how sharp I was with the COY?).

If the 1996 is the new model JH has been alluding to, I really hope that there's something besides the COY for us bass players to get excited about!

I'm pretty sure I remember Wes bringing up the v68 idea originally.....he just doesn't post here as often as the rest of us....I remember popping up like a groundhog when he said "v68" lol!!

I don't think I was the one who coined the term "v68" but I was one of those who would want a 4001V bass that looked like my 68 ... inlays, checkered binding, etc ... to me that is the classic 60s Rickenbacker bass because that is the one I owned and played for years ... and all of the other 4001V and 4001C basses are all based on the export 4001s model ... maybe it is time to do a 4001v bass that is based on the deluxe model ...

"..he just doesn't post here as often as the rest of us."

Yeah, I've often wondered how you guys get thousands of posts. I read this thing every morning and chime in when it fits. Yet I only have several hundred posts over two years and have raised Mr. Hall's ire several times.

The V68 is a great idea no matter who thought of it! I just hope our bank account can rebound from having my wife off work with the baby before they come out!

I tend to think the 325 with the f hole is the new model. Why a 325 it should be a full scale 350 [the 325 is like a toy].

I could be wrong but I don't think a V68 is in the works.

No, Ken, I don't think you are wrong this time...Image We can dream, but I don't think that is the news we will get at NAMM.

I agree with Paul Boyer, the new model will be a guitar. Walnut wings adn a new bridge design will be the bass offering.
