For some reason, I find it really sleazy and horrible that the guy wrote this in his auction:

"Cliff would never have sold out or turned on true fans by suing them . There is no telling what Metallica could have been had Cliff lived."

I admit, Cliff was freaking amazing, and his death was one of the greatest tragedies in music . . . but still. This seems like a whiny former fan, ****** because the band isn't as good as they used to be.

I never heard anything about Metallica specifically suing fans . . . did that happen? Didn't Metallica sue NAPSTER because the file-sharing service violated their rights to their music? How is that wrong?

I like the line, "Cliff was one of the first to exploit bass guitar to its full potential." Forget Chris Squire, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, Jaco Pastorius, etc. The bass guitar didn't come into its own until the '80s man!!!

And RE: "The band that shall not be named" - I thought maybe it was a reference to Hastur, "He Who Shall Not Be Named," from Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, because there are some Metallica songs derived from that, but their song is "The Thing That Should Not Be," so I'm thinking that the guy isn't that literary and is just an idiot!

When this idiot first debuted his Cliff Burton hat, it had a RIC guitar headstock on it! I guess someone finally clued him in that Cliff played bass.

Robert, I always liked Metallica.

However, after Larz, personal whet in front of Congress to belly ache about how he was getting ripped off. IT MADE ME SICK.

I think most famous and wealthy people realize, if you are going to use your power and fame as a public tool. “do it for a good cause”, try and help someone.

What social injustice or disaster inspired Metallica to rise to the occasion.. “their own money”.

Hello all, I'm thinking, that's usually when I get in trouble, if I'm JH I'd let Mr. Hatboy have at it. This fella is going to reach a certain "clientele" that the standard media does not reach. You'll see them flailing away with a sticker covered, painted old piece of wood and wire at the local thrill zone. When these warriors are ready to step up, hello Rickenbacker. The next Lemmy perhaps?

John, would look great in this hat. YIKES! It looks like one of those hats that truckers wore in the 80's. The ones that sit about a foot above your head.

In the 80s? People still wear those today! . . . at least, they do in Georgia . . .

Oh, and I know it was kind of put-off-ish when Metallica got up in arms about the whole illegal file sharing thing, but I felt that that was because of the very hostile attitude they took. I have absolutely no problem with an artist saying, "Hey, we're being ripped off!", whether they have tons of money or not. I do agree that they could've been a little less whiny and ranty and ravey about it.
