And the drumsticks rattling on the same cut. One of those early tracks--could be "Wendy"--has Brian talking offmike, too.

I've got to check that one out Mick. I remember listening to it only once many years ago. My wife is called Wendy & she was really embarrassed by it, so I never got a good listen.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

I named my second daughter (31) after that song. Oldest daughter (35) is named "Andrea", after the Sunrays' song of that title.

My eight year old is "Juliana" after a Michael Nesmith song. Besides, "Moon Unit" had been already taken.

On the outro of She's A Woman, Paul is repeating the title, they switch from an A chord to a D and back...well, except the rhythm guitar, which stays on A. But we all knew that, right?ImageWhere's the cowbell?

I remember having a very "square" for his age (late '20s) music teacher in HS when "Wendy" was current. This would have been the Fall of '65. I wrote down the lyrics to the song and showed them to him for his opinion.

He, thinking that I'd written them, told me not to take up songwriting as a profession. He also said that because of the line:

"Till you made it with another guy"

It would be banned from airplay anyway.

He was not far off the mark, although the BBs did play it on "Ed Sullivan" in mid-'64 with no repercussions.

"God Only Knows" had difficulty getting airplay; probably would once again in these reactionary times.

"Till you made it with another guy"

I was 12 in 65 and remember wondering what that meant, and actually I don't think I even understood what he was saying there, I guess I was really square, haha!

It's a pretty tame, hilarious euphemism after all...

Isn't there some tune with the phrase "Looks like we made it..." in the refrain? What's he talkin' about: the condition of the back seat of his car?
