Beatles Live At The Cavern

Post by admin »

This is a great video.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

This is included as a bonus at the end of disc two of the "Get Back - Winter Of Discontent" DVD, along with some raw footage filmed the same day 8/22/62. Highly essential!

Thanks Peter, great for sure. We're lucky to have all these early pictures and films of The Beatles. That stage certainly has to be bigger than the one they rebuilt. I've been to the new Cavern and it sure seems smaller. Anybody else have an opinion on the stage size?

Everything looks smaller now that we're 'all grown up'...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

A friend of mine has a Technicolor 35mm newsreel by Pathe called "The Beatles Come To Town" from '62 or '63 shot at the Circle Theatre in Devonshire, I think. I haven't seen it yet, sometime in the next couple of months I'll try to get over to his place to see it.

At the very end of that video you can hear someone shout "WE WANT PETE!" followed by some supportive cheering and also shouts of "RINGO!".

Since the date is 22 August 1962 (lunchtime session at The Cavern), Ringo had only been in the band for 4 days (his first gig with he band as an offical member being Aug 18th at the Horticulture Society Dance in Birkenhead).

At the 8/22 gig, Granada TV also filmed them doing 'Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey'. The book 'The Beatles, A Diary' says that the film of Kansas City exists although it's sound was lost. Anyone have that film clip?
