Anyone have $9995 laying around?

Thanks Marc and Dave, I know what you mean Dave. I dealt with Tommy at the Zoo. He seems a great guy, but busy. He got right to the point, gave options, then asked for a call. I actually prefer a straight shooter as I know where I stand. I got the picture quick that I had to get in or fold.
The real problem I was having was when I found a bass, the owners either did not want to sell, or would slide around on pricing making it difficult to know if you were getting anywhere. It appears conditions may improve as it sounds like more of these basses are beginning to surface.

I'm just happy to be here.

Congrats Gary !!!!!
....but without pics we really have no reason to believe you.
I was happy to be the devil on your shoulder. I also pursued that LK but $8K cash just wasn't enough. The thought of "trade-ins" never came to mind or I probably could have worked something out. I'm soooooo taken with mine that I'm aching for a 2nd one. It seems that you are pretty smitten yourself which means that your hard work, sacrificing 1/2 your collection and, of course, the chunk of cash make it a good deal.

Just wondering Gary.... was the LK at the Music Zoo new or used? I remember when Ed Roman first got one a while back and was asking big money for it (2-3 times the suggested list price), there was some question as to whether a dealer could ask that much for a new instrument. I believe John Hall actually chimed in that the bass was used and therefore the dealer could ask whatever he wanted. Does anyone recall this?

Hi Steve, I'm under the impression she is new. You know, I did not think to ask. She came with all the case candy unopened and the certificate envelope was sealed, appearing unopened. Has warranty cards and stickers in place. I will ask now that you mention it.
As to pricing, I would think the Harley Davidson model applies. After they leave the factory, the dealers probably have the freedom to play the market. Other examples, Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06, Ford GT, all selling way over list on introduction.
Ken, could you say how you knew she was new?
Thank you Brian for leaving her for me. Hard to see how they did not take your generous offer. Wonder how Tommy's driving record looks? Hmmmmm..............?
