What kind of amps are you using with your Rics?
I've got the 12 string body style, toasters, bridge and nut issues settled in my mind now and thanks to all for the good advice.
The next very important question is the amp. My basic rig consists of two amps joined by an AB box. The clean amp is a '68 bassman head driving two jensen c12n in an open back cab. All the effects pedals run thru this loop. The second amp is a re-built to original 5F6A spec '59 Bassman ri that I use for the tweed sound.
I'm assuming that you always play a 12 string thru a clean amp and I'm wondering what ya'll are using.

I have a 1955(?) Premier model 120 guitar/harp amp. It has a single 12" speaker, which doesn't have a manufacturer's name on it. (Do some amp companies make their own speakers????) The only thing that doesn't work on it, though I wish it would, is the tremolo. Plugging into the microphone jack gives it really cool distortion. It's great for practicing, or maybe a small bar gig, depending on how big the crowd is.
I play my Rics through a Roland JC-120 and a Vox Super Mini Reverb. I haven't A/B'd them yet.
Rics shimmer and reveal the depths of their sound when plugged into an amp with a lot of headroom.
'course I've gotten good tone plugged into my bandmate's Peavey Classic 30.
I prefer to get my distortion from pedals (though my little Vox has a sweet distortion sound).
Cheers, Noel

I play my 360/12 through a blackface Bandmaster or a (late-50's?) Magnatone Troubadour 213. My band's guitarist recently played it on some recordings we did, using his silverface Dual Showman. I won't talk about bass (my main instrument) amps since this is the guitar board ...
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.
