When it's a JG! I decided that my 330MG & 330-12Mid didn't 'do it' for me & arranged a deal with Mike Smith to change them for a 360FG (which was prevoiusly mine & I wanted it back!) & a 330-12FG. I had to have FG! However, when I played the 12 string, I didn't really like the neck very much...but I knew that Mike had in stock a gtr which I had (not the same one) & have really missed it since it went...a 360JG. He didn't want my black/gold TRC or guards, so I put them on the 360JG. That was it...the 360JG was mine. Looks, plays & sounds great. I was going to '375' it, but it sounds good as it is, so will make a decision after a gig or two.
Thanks as always Mike, for two more of your great gtrs & also your kindness & professionalism.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.
I get them from Tony at Pickguardian Rob. They are fantastic quality & he'll make you just about anything.
I am actually thinking along Steves lines though, there is something about the white contrasting with the JG & I am just not convinced that the gold goes with the white binding. I've always found 660's a little odd looking for this very reason. Here's a pic of my old 360JG with the white.

That's what I love about my JG 360/12 Tony. But I prefer white guards on all Rickenbackers. I think it's part of their distinctive look - that white teardrop standing out.
I did John. I know it's crazy & I'll never get another like it, but I am a player, not a collector & although it played, looked & sounded really good, I have been playing a long time & know what I am looking for. There is just a combination of neck feel & sound that I look for that satisfies my particular preference. I have let some great, great Rics slip through my hands, but have in the process aquired a small, but incredibly usable set of gtrs that suit me as an individual, with the particular feel that I am after.
The funny thing is that unfortunately, it is often the least 'glamorous' gtrs that seem to suit me.

Is it a '90s Fireglo? We're aware of your penchant for the darker finishes - therefore I expect that you would accept nothing less than a 'darker' Jetglo!!
Tony, a black-on-black SG is perfectly cool, sometimes a guitar SHOULD look evil, but the tuxedo look of a 360JG against white is just as sharp and handsome as can be. I put flat strings on my 360JG, and really enjoy it now. Way to go, man !! Your simple tastes are a reflection of you, it's what you play that matters the most, and, there is nothing "plain" or "simple" about a 360JG, it is a beautiful guitar, just ask Peter Buck, he has at least 5 of them !

You're right Steve. I have decided to 'white' my 360JG. You have hit the nail on the head....V64's, 381's, C series etc are the glamour gtrs, but the standard 330 & 360 are just as beautiful to me.....
