I can see it now:
"To RIC Customer Service,
I'm 17, have been playing bass since I was 15, and after all this time I finally got me a new Ric 4003. I love it but when I have the treble pickup selected and pull up on the pot all the bass goes away. Please help!"

"We were trying to get this done in time so that as you flipped the switch on the website flash the tone would change. However, with the NAMM show coming up next week, there just hasn't been enough hours in the day to get everything done." - JH
Cool. Though the way things are looking, I may have one in my hands by the time the flash gets up to the site.

It is supposed to be a standard feature starting in 2006.
The switch is built into the treble tone pot. If the knob is pulled the pot will switch to cap mode and return to 'modern' mode when the knob is pushed back in.
I am eagerly awaiting the reissue of the 5er. My order will be placed the day it is announced that they are back in production.
