Looking For.....................

Post by rob »

.............the pair of cabinets that are supposed to go for my Fender BXR200 head unit. I know someone has them out there, but I can't find a single one. I believe the top cabinet is a 4x10, and the bottom is a 1x15. Of course, these have been discontinued for 7 years now, so I can't get them brand new. I don't care for anything else BUT these cabinets. I don't want Fender's new stuff, and I don't want any other company's stuff. Just the original speaker cabinets, so I can have it all matching. I'm sorry, but I'm funny like that.

Here's a picture of what the head unit looks like:Image

Anyone know much about the BXR series? I can't seem to find a picture anywhere of what the speaker cabinets look like, but I know them if I see them. I might have to buy something off-brand and used locally, but I would definatly replace them with the originals once I find them.

So, any of you bass players (it's a bass amp, BTW) know much about these? I love this amp because it's solid state (only solid state amp I'd use), so I don't have to pay top dollar for a tube job, and it has built in chorus which is the best I have ever heard. I like this amp so much that I absolutely need the matching speaker cabinets, for a reasonable and fair price. If someone wants to sell me them for way too much just because they know I want them, of course they'll end up keeping them.

I had a BXR 400 that I bought brand new in like '89 or so. Great amp, I only recently got rid of it. I used that thing HARD for about 10 years with minimal problems. The BXR gear was pretty underrated - good solid state stuff.
Had a BXR 100w combo that didn't suck either.

I actually still have the BXR 4x10 cab. I was thinking about getting rid of it, but I've been on the fence. I'm not sure about the 15" cabinet, but I do remember they offered the "Spectrum" cabinet, which had an 18" and 2 10"s so you could take advantage of the bi-amping capability of those amps.

I am positive they had a 15" cabinet also, making it a full stack. Even though I really wish to have the exact matching pair of cabs, I might have to use another brand in the meanwhile. I'm sorry to be sounding extremely picky, but since I love this amp so much, I thought I should be looking for the cabs it was supposed to be with. If I ever come across the "right" cabs for this at the right price, I'll be sure to grab them.

Robert, take a look at this old eBay ad for a BXR Speaker Enclosures sales flyer:

I think the "115B" might be the 1-15" cabinet you're thinking of.

Yes, that's it. I want the 115B and whatever they call the 4x10.
