The Beach boys today and Holland are my two favorite Beach Boy albums.

I would say that it would have had to have been Ricky Fataar although I really have no idea.

I just went by the way he looked, it was either him or Blondie Chaplin. What did he play?

Both Fataar and Chaplin were Beach Boys during the "Holland" period.
Carl was producing them as the Flames too.

I have long been a fan of Brian's song-writing talent, and equally his talent at arranging the orchestrations.

His brother Carl... after watching the "Endless Harmony" documentary I have the utmost respect for him as a person, and after watching the Knebworth 1980 Beach Boys DVD I thought his guitar playing was really cool too. He was definitely not just a strummer.

...AND he has a cool name!

Hey, Bob. Where have you been? Yeah, 'Holland' is one of my favorite BB albums. I still remember buying it locally in early 1974. I must have put it on a hundred times. Actually I still have it in my collection. Believe it or not, it is still in mint condition. Nothing like a high end stereo to keep your long-players in fine form through the years haha.

Nice thread. Can I assume the intro to California Girls is a Rick 12? If so, it has to go down as one of the top 3 12 string sequences of all time. Intro to Kicks being another...
This is off the record

First vid is impressive for the vocals being fairly on with what had to be lousy hearing conditions. Second one is the milli-vanilli version - they mimed the record.

Love the sound of the Rick!

If the first clip wasn't lip-synced I'd be shocked. That's just what you did in those days.

Nah, I believe thay sang it - watch Brian on closeups, especially at the break as he is too loud into the mic and backs away. Not like the record.
