The back looks OK. Beyond hope, do you think?

Not being a luthier, my opinion is only my opinion, but from what I see in the other pictures, it's probably not worth repairing, mainly because it appears to be a more recent issue. If it were an original 1960s-vintage with a serial number close to that of Lennon's J-160E, now that might make a difference.

The guitar is in dismal condition and has been bodged beyond belief, but the best part of the listing is the part that says, "we enjoy a smoke-free home"! THAT one made me laugh out loud!

I'm embarassed to say that I did a similar neck "repair" ages ago. The bass player in the band I was in had a friend with a broken-neck Gibson EBO bass (the one with the SG body). The headstock/neck was split just like the one above, and the friend told him, "If you can fix it, please do". So the bass player and I glued the neck, drilled a hole through the neck from truss rod rout to the back, and put a screw through with a lock washer and nut on the back side of the neck. It worked, and the bass at least became playable. Also (and unlike the J-160E above), we used a small enough screw and located the hole such that the TRC could be put back on; from the front, one could not tell that the guitar had been repaired. The view from the back was a different story ...
