This model was on the Ric site years before they began production. I waited 16 months from my order to when I received my first one (I have 2). I hope they do announce something at NAMM on this bass including a fix for the pickup issue. I am having one of my basses fixed by having the pickups rewound. I should get it back next week and will post how this is working.

Im curious, (since I dont know really how pickups work) what is the idea and benifit behind this?"
ya rewinding is not the problem ... the size of the rails is the problem ...
I would love to get a hold of Ric humbuckers that cover wide string spacings ...

I'm very happy that Rickenbacker is pausing production on these to get the design issues resolved. Unfortunately, I ordered one of these in Montezuma Brown from Mike Parks and the cancellation of that order basically excludes me from ever getting one in that finish. I am NOT happy about this at all.
Well Greg, I can assure you, that when you get one of these, color will be a minor issue. You will LOVE it. I wanted the TB, but ended up with the TG. It is (for me) the PERFECT bass. All the killer looks and design of RIC, and a great playing 5 string. The bass of my dreams. John, as to the pickups, the Bart's I put in dont have any phasing problems. I know RIC likes to use their own PU designs, but the BART's hit the mark right on the head. Maybe Bill and Pat will make them for you.
